Naming Ceremonies (also known as Name Days or Namegivings) are becoming increasingly popular with young families these days. Particularly when the parents are encouraged to participate in, and help with the planning of their child's special day.
A Naming Ceremony is not Baptism and it is not a Christening, rituals such as these welcome children into a Church or faith community. However, there are many families who have no affiliation with a Church or have no religious beliefs at all but still want a meaningful ritual to welcome their child into the world and to offically name that child. These parents choose a civil Naming Ceremony.
